Leopoldo Fregoli (né le 2 juillet 1867 à Rome et mort le 26 novembre 1936 à Viareggio) était un acteur et un artiste italien, ventriloque et musicien, réputé pour ses changements de costumes très rapides, un transformiste qui a été jusqu'à interpréter 100 rôles costumés dans le même spectacle.
Il tournera dans toutes les villes du monde.
À Lyon, au Théâtre des Célestins, il rencontre Auguste Lumière, qui lui vend un appareil de projection avec autorisation de l’utiliser, qu'il modifiera et qu'il baptisera le Frégoligraphe et avec lequel il tournera ses premiers films en pionnier du cinéma.
Installé à Paris, d'abord au Trianon Palace à Montmartre puis à l'Olympia où il fait un triomphe pendant 7 mois à guichets fermés, il monte un spectacle spécial dit du « théâtre à l'envers » pour démontrer qu'il est seul en scène et qu'aucun comparse ne le remplace pendant les différentes transformations (il dispose néanmoins d'une vingtaine de costumiers qui participent à l'action en coulisse).
