Synopsis

Le dernier film américain de Charles Chaplin raconte l'histoire d'un vieux chanteur de music-hall (Calvero) à la retraite qui veut à tout prix aider une jeune danseuse de ballet (Thérèse Ambrouse, dite Terry) à apprendre à évoluer et à danser en public sans difficultés. Le duo entre Chaplin et le légendaire Buster Keaton, constitue l'apogée du film.

Dans ce film, le personnage de Calvero n'est pas sans rappeler celui de Charlot. C'est ainsi que Chaplin fait ici ses adieux à son personnage fétiche.
