  1. ↑ Le 5 octobre 2007, Marion Jones a avoué avoir consommé des produits dopants avant ces Jeux. Le 9 octobre, elle rendait ses médailles au comité olympique américain et le 12 décembre, le CIO lui retirait formellement ces médailles. Néanmoins, le CIO n'a pas ré-attribué ces médailles en affirmant avoir besoin de temps pour considérer les preuves contre Jones. Le CIO a annoncé que la mise à jour des classements résultant des disqualifications de Marion Jones ne serait pas automatique car le scandale Balco pourrait impliquer d'autres athlètes. En décembre 2007, Jacques Rogge, président du CIO, a annoncé que les médailles ne seraient redistribuées que si le CIO était convaincu que les investigations ne révéleraient pas de nouveaux cas.
