Jazz As Played in an Exclusive Side Street Club, sorti en 1958, est le premier album de Nina Simone, également sorti sous le titre Little Girl Blue.
Le single extrait de l'album et contenant les titres He Needs Me / I Loves You Porgy se vendra à plus d'un million d'exemplaires.
Le titre My Baby Just Cares for Me sera popularisé en 1987, soit près de trente ans après son enregistrement, grâce à une publicité pour le parfum Chanel numéro 5.
