Lorenzo Sabatini, parfois appelé Lorenzo Sabatini da Bologna (Bologne, v. 1530 - Rome, 1576) est un peintre maniériste italien du XVIe siècle qui a été actif à Bologne, à Florence et à Rome.

Biographie

Ami d'Orazio Sammachini, Lorenzo Sabatini part à Florence pour travailler dans l'atelier de Giorgio Vasari dans les années 1560-1565. Il est inscrit ensuite à l'académie du dessin de Florence.

Il retourne à Bologne en 1570, puis voyage à Rome pour travailler avec Vasari à la Sala Regia du Vatican (1572-73).

Après la mort de Vasari, Sabatini devient le superintendant des travaux sous le pape Grégoire XIII.

La Vierge, l'Enfant et le petit saint Jean-Baptiste, du musée du Louvre, est signée et datée : LAUREN SABADI. PICTOR BONOS SANTI DNI NRI GREGOIRE XIII FECIT ANNO MDLXXII.

Giacomo Zanguidi a, peut-être, été son élève.
