Louis B. Mayer (né le 4 juillet 1885 à Minsk, République de Bélarus - mort le 29 octobre 1957 à Los Angeles, Californie) est un producteur de cinéma américain. Il émigre avec sa famille à la suite des pogroms qui ont endeuillé l'Empire russe après l'assassinat d'Alexandre III. Le famille débarque à New-York où la famille survit difficilement à Brooklin. Louis B. Mayer commence à travailler très jeune et multiplie les petits métiers. Lorsque les premières salles de cinéma ouvrent à New-York, il est enthousiasmé.

Il commence sa carrière en achetant une salle de cinéma en 1910 à New-York. Le cinéma muet est alors en pleine expansion. Puis au début de l'engagement américain en 1917, il quitte la côte est pour la Califormie. Il devient rapidement exploitant, distributeur et enfin producteur avec son entreprise, la Louis B. Mayer Pictures.

Son entreprise fusionne ensuite avec The Goldwyn Company et The Loew's Inc. pour fonder la Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer en 1924. Il y devient vice-président et un des « nababs » d'Hollywood.
