Marquee Club

Le Marquee est un club londonien où se sont produits de nombreux groupes de rock.
Ouvert en 1958 au 165, Oxford Street, le club fut le théâtre de la première représentation publique des Rolling Stones, le 12 juillet 1962. Deux ans plus tard, le Marquee déménagea au 90, Wardour Street, où il resta jusqu'en 1988. Sa scène accueillit notamment les Who, David Bowie, Jethro Tull, les Moody Blues, Jimi Hendrix, les Yardbirds, Pink Floyd, Joe Cocker, les Sex Pistols, The Police, The Cure, Joy Division, Iron Maiden ou Marillion.
Le site de Wardour Street fut vendu en 1988, et le Marquee occupa dès lors plusieurs emplacements successifs jusqu'en 2008, lorsque le site de Covent Garden ferma ses portes.
