Mother India (Hindi: भारत माता, Urdu: بھارت ماتا) est un film indien de Bollywood sorti en 1957 réalisé par Mehboob Khan, et nommé pour l' Oscar du meilleur film en langue étrangère en 1957. Ce film est un remake d'un film du même réalisateur : Aurat tourné en (1940).

Le film est centré sur le personnage de Radha, de son mariage à la mort de son fils Birju. Radha, femme d'honneur, qui le restera jusqu'au bout malgré l'injustice de l'usurier du village.

  • Pendant le tournage, Sunil Dutt porta secours à Nargis, l'actrice principale, au cours de la scène de l'incendie volontaire des meules. Ils se marièrent en 1959.
  • L'immense succès public et critique du film lui vallut d'être considéré comme l'Autant en emporte le vent du cinéma indien.
