La mitrailleuse légère IMI Negev est une arme israélienne fabriquée par les IMI. Elle utilise la munition de 5,56 mm Otan.

Présentation

Au début des années 1990, Tsahal décide d'adopter une mitrailleuse légère en 5,56 mm. Elle utilise d'abord quelques FN Minimi belges. Vers 1995, elle opte pour un modèle national et collabore avec IMI pour la mise au point.

La Negev fonctionne par emprunt des gaz. Le verrouillage s'effectue par rotation de la culasse. L'arme tire la culasse ouverte. La cadence de tir est réglable et l'arme peut tirer des grenades à fusil. Il existe une version Negev Commando pour les parachutistes.
