Musicians United for Safe Energy, ou MUSE, est un groupe militant fondé en 1979 par Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, Bonnie Raitt, et John Hall du groupe Orleans.

Le groupe protestait contre l'utilisation de l'énergie nucléaire, après l'accident de la centrale nucléaire de Three Mile Island en mars 1979.

Les concerts

MUSE a organisé une série de 5 concerts No Nukes au Madison Square Garden de New York en septembre 1979.

Ont également participé aux concerts David Crosby, Stephen Stills, et Graham Nash, Bruce Springsteen et le E Street Band, James Vernon Taylor, Carly Simon, The Doobie Brothers, Jesse Colin Young, Gil Scott-Heron, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Ry Cooder et d'autres. Un album et un film en ont été tirés. un concert complet de Jackson Browne et CSN a également été filmé sur la plage de Ventura (Californie).

Anecdotes

Lors des dernières élections de mi-mandat présidentiel aux États-Unis, John Hall fut élu à la chambre des représentants du 19e District de New-York avec un programme incluant une utilisation des énergies alternatives.
