La psittacine ou psittacofulvine est un pigment caroténoïde, liposoluble comme ces dernières. Son nom provient de Psittacidae, le nom scientifique des espèces comprenant les perroquets, perruches, cacatoès, etc... chez qui ce pigment a été découvert. Ce pigment se concentre dans leurs plumes et leur permet un éventail de couleurs qui vont du jaune au rouge.
La synthèse de cette molécule est inconnue in-vivo et in-vitro.
