Artillery

Artillery est un groupe de Thrash metal danois qui a débuté sa carrière en 1982 dans une banlieue de Copenhague, Taastrup. Les membres étaient les guitaristes Jørgen Sandau et Michael Stützer, le bassiste Morten Stützer, le batteur Carsten Nielsen et le chanteur Carsten Lohmann. Ensemble ils ont enregistré 2 démos en 1984, Shellshock et Deeds Of Darkness.

En 1985, Flemming Rønsdorf est le nouveau chanteur. Ils enregistrent une troisième démo, Fear Of Tommorow et leur premier album portant le même nom. Deux ans après sort Terror Squad. Cet album sera acclamé par les critiques mais ne sera pas soutenu par leur maison de disques Neat Records. Pendant cette période, le groupe est devenu ami avec Metallica quand ils visitaient Copenhague pour enregistrer Ride The Lightning et Master Of Puppets.

En 1989, le guitariste Jørgen Sandau quitte le groupe. Le bassiste Morten Stützer prend sa place et laisse la basse à Peter Thorslund. L'année suivante sort leur troisième album, By Inheritance, cette fois sous le label Roadrunner Records. Ils reçoivent la visite de journalistes du monde entier. Mais le manque de promotion de l'album et la tournée comme leur avait promis le label n'ayant pas eu lieu va mener au split du groupe en 1991.
