Peur rouge
La « Peur rouge » (de l'anglais Red Scare) désigne deux périodes anticommunistes de l'histoire des États-Unis. La première débute avec la Révolution russe de 1917 et se termine en 1920. La seconde, le maccarthisme, se déroule dans les années 1950 dans le contexte de la « guerre froide ». Ces périodes sont caractérisées par la criminalisation de l'opinion politique communiste et anarchiste ainsi que la crainte généralisée d'une infiltration communiste au sein du gouvernement américain.
