Il épouse Jennifer Garner qui joue Sydney Bristow dans Alias le 19 octobre 2000, mais ils se séparent au bout de 3 ans, le divorce étant finalement prononcé le 30 mars 2004.

Le 5 juin 2007, il épouse l'actrice Marika Dominczyk. Le couple a eu une petite fille en 2010.
