Le Shiv Sena (devanāgarī: शिव सेना Śīv Senā) est un parti politique indien, nationaliste indien extrémiste[1], implanté dans l'État du Maharashtra. Son nom signifie "Armée de Shivaji", du nom du fondateur de l'Empire marathe au XVIIe siècle. Le Shiv Sena a prospéré du fait de son implantation locale, par le biais d'associations diverses, et en distillant une violente propagande antimusulmane[2].
Le Shiv Sena dispose de douze sièges à la Lok Sabha, depuis les élections générales de mai 2004. Il a gouverné l'État de Maharashtra entre 1995 et 2004, dans le cadre d'une alliance avec le BJP, parti nationaliste hindou au pouvoir en Inde entre 1998 et 2004. Le Shiv Sena est également à la tête de la municipalité de Bombay, qu'il a rebaptisée Mumbai en 1996.
L'actuel leader du Shiv Sena depuis 2004 est Uddhav Thackeray, fils de Bal Thackeray, fondateur du parti en 1967. Cet ancien dessinateur de bandes dessinées est notamment connu pour avoir professé son admiration envers Adolf Hitler[3].
