Siméon ou Shim'on (en hébreu: שמעון) est le second des douze fils de Jacob et de Léa dans la Genèse. Avec son frère Lévi, il venge le viol de leur sœur Dinah par le prince de Sichem en passant au fil de l'épée tous les hommes de la ville. Leur père ne leur pardonnera jamais cette violence.
Lorsque Joseph, vendu à des caravaniers puis devenu vice-roi d'Égypte, enverra chercher Benjamin auprès de leur père, il gardera Siméon en otage (certains commentaires expliquent qu'il voulait ainsi séparer Siméon et Lévi pour éviter des réactions belliqueuses.)
Siméon est également un homme du Nouveau Testament (Luc 2:25) ayant attendu toute sa vie la venue du Messie, ayant été averti qu'il ne mourrait pas avant de l'avoir vu. Lorsqu'il vit Jésus enfant, accompagné de ses parents, il le bénit et annonça à Marie les œuvres merveilleuses auxquelles l'enfant était destiné.
