Stone The Crows était un groupe de musique formé à Glasgow en Écosse fin 1969.

Histoire

Le groupe a été formé quand Maggie Bell a été présentée à Les Harvey par son grand frère Alex Harvey. Après avoir joué ensemble dans les Kinning Park Ramblers, ils rejoignent un groupe Power, plus tard renommé Stone The Crows, après que le manager de Led Zeppelin, Peter Grant, les ait entendus et signés.

Les deux premiers albums du groupe ont été enregistrés avec ces membres, et la voix de Bell rappelant Janis Joplin[1].

Deuxième line-up

McGinnis et Dewar quittent le groupe en 1971, remplacés par Ronnie Leahy et Steve Thompson. La mort tragique de Les Harvey (électrocuté par un micro live sur scène à Swansea's Top Rank Suite en mai 1972) conduit presque à la séparation du groupe. Après un essai de Peter Green, le groupe prend l'ex-Thunderclap Newman, le prodige Jimmy McCulloch comme guitare-solo.

Stone the Crows se sépare en juin 1973. Maggie Bell enregistre deux albums début des années 1970 , Queen Of The Night et Suicide Sal et rejoint Rod Stewart pour Every Picture Tells A Story.
