The New School (« La Nouvelle École ») est une célèbre université privée de la ville de New York, située dans le quartier de Greenwich Village à Manhattan. Fondé en 1919, l'établissement était autrefois connu sous le nom de School for Social Research (« École de recherche sociale »), puis New School for Social Research. Environ 9 000 étudiants sont engagés dans des cursus undergraduate et graduate dans un ensemble très vaste de disciplines parmi lesquelles les sciences sociales, les arts libéraux, les lettres, l'architecture, la comédie, la musique, la psychologie ou encore la finance. L'établissement abrite également plusieurs think tanks parmi lesquels le World Policy Institute. La renommée de l'université s'est acquise au cours du XXe siècle, notamment grâce à de nombreux professeurs de renom parmi lesquels on retrouve Hannah Arendt, Claude Lévi-Strauss, John Maynard Keynes, Frank Lloyd Wright ou encore Jurgen Habermas.
