The North Face, Inc. (en anglais « la face nord ») est une société fondée par Douglas Tompkins spécialisée dans les vêtements et accessoires : parkas, chaussures et d'équipement comme des sacs à dos, des tentes et des sacs de couchage. Cette marque vend des vêtements et des lignes d'équipement haut de gamme pour alpinistes, skieurs, surfeurs, excursionnistes à pied et athlètes d'endurance.
Le siège de The North Face était basé initialement (1966) à San Francisco, mais de nos jours à San Leandro, en Californie.
En 1968, Douglas Tompkins et son épouse Susie Russell fondent également la marque Esprit. Quelques années après leur divorce, celle-ci sera reprise par the Esprit Far East Group, à Hong Kong.
