Rocketeer est un comic-book de Dave Stevens relatant les aventures d'un jeune aviateur dans les années 1930.

La série a reçu 2 Jack Kirby Award, celui du Meilleur dessinateur (Best Artist) en 1985 et celui Meilleur album (Best Graphic Album) en 1986.

Synopsis

Habitué aux acrobaties pratiquées dans ses shows aériens, Cliff Secord découvre un prototype de fusée dorsale volé à l'armée par des gangsters.

Volontiers parodique et sexy, la BD nous présente une pseudo Betty Page en la personne de Betty, petite amie du héros, et des courses poursuites toutes plus rocambolesques les unes que les autres.

Apparu dans les années 80, le comic-book retranscrit parfaitement l'esprit pulp et serial des premières bandes dessinées américaines.

À noter

Le personnage du Rocketeer est en réalité inspiré par un autre héros de BD : Rocketman, publié dans les années 50.

Adaptation cinématographique

Une adaptation cinématographique nommée The Rocketeer produite par Disney, a été réalisée en 1991 :
