Thuringowa (61 000 habitants) est une ville en pleine expansion du nord du Queensland, en Australie. Elle forme avec Townsville la plus importante agglomération de la région. Elle est devenue « city » en 1986.

Elle doit son nom à un pionnier allemand qui l'a baptisé du nom de sa province d'origine: la Thuringe.

Avant l'arrivée des européens, la région était habitée par la tribu aborigène des « Nyawaygi ». Le premier européen à s'installer dans la région fut James Morrill, en 1846 ; il avait coulé accidentellement son bateau sur les côtes.

Le 15 mars 2008 Thuringowa a fusionné avec Townsville.
