Le général Tomoyuki Yamashita (山下 奉文 Yamashita Tomoyuki) (né le 8 novembre 1885, exécuté le 23 février 1946 par pendaison) était un général de l'Armée impériale japonaise durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il est célèbre pour avoir conquis avec 30 000 hommes les colonies britanniques de Malaisie et de Singapour, défendues par 120 000 soldats britanniques, indiens et australiens, ce qui lui a valu le surnom de « Tigre de Malaisie ».
En 1945, il assuma également la défense des Philippines lors de la reconquête alliée.
Le général Yamashita est exécuté à Los Baños aux Philippines le 23 février 1946, après un procès extrêmement controversé devant un tribunal militaire américain. La principale accusation se rapportait à des crimes de guerre commis aux Philippines (Massacre de Manille) par les troupes placées sous son commandement, qu’il n’avait pourtant pas ordonnés[1] (il avait d'ailleurs donné des ordres qui, s'ils avaient été suivis, auraient pu empêcher ces atrocités).
