Why Can't I Be You est une chanson du groupe The Cure figurant sur l'album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me et sortie en single le 8 avril 1987, avec en face B le titre inédit A Japanese Dream.
Le Maxi 45 tours ne contient pas de morceaux supplémentaires mais les deux chansons en version longue (Extended Mix). En revanche l'édition limitée en format double 45 tours comporte en plus Six Different Ways et Push enregistré en concert à Orange. Il s'agit des versions présentes sur la vidéo The Cure In Orange[1].
Et pour la première fois, un single du groupe est disponible au format CD, mais uniquement la version allemande[2].
Why Can't I Be You sera présent dans le Top 50 durant 9 semaines. Son meilleur classement sera la 29eme place[3].
