Window Manager From Scratch ou WMFS est un tiling window manager (gestionnaire de fenêtres) à l'instar de Wmii, Awesome et Ion. C'est un logiciel libre distribué selon les termes de la licence BSD.
Ses principaux atouts :
- Léger : il ne reprend pas le code d'un autre WM : comme son nom l'indique, il est écrit à partir de zéro.
- Très configurable : on peut, par exemple, faire en sorte que les raccourcis clavier soient différents d'un bureau à l'autre.
Il est fait de manière à être doté de fonctionnalités (parfois inhabituelles) très intuitives et à être le plus versatile possible (notamment la gestion des écrans multiples, le respect du standard EWMH...).
