Carrière

Il remporte le titre vacant de champion du monde des poids coqs le 18 novembre 1960 en battant Jose Medel par KO au 10e round[1], titre qu'il converse 8 fois les 5 années suivantes avant d'être à son tour battu le 18 mai 1965 par Fighting Harada.

Boxant par la suite en poids plumes, il s'empare du titre WBC aux dépens de José Legrá le 5 mai 1973[2] mais est destitué en 1974 pour ne pas avoir remis sa ceinture en jeu dans le délai imparti.
