Auto-négligence

L' auto-négligence est une condition comportementale dans laquelle un individu néglige ses propres besoins, tels que l'hygiène personnelle, l'habillage, la nourriture ou la médication[1]. Une auto-négligence extrême est connue sous le terme de syndrome de Diogène.

Causes

L'auto-négligence peut être le résultat de dommages cérébraux, d'une démence ou d'une maladie mentale[2]. Cela peut être le résultat d'une maladie mentale ou physique ayant un effet sur les capacités physiques, énergétiques, cognitives ou motivantes d'un individu.

Conséquences

En raison d'un manque d'hygiène, des micro-organismes peuvent se développer et des blessures mineures peuvent s'infecter. Quelques problèmes de santé peuvent survenir, à cause d'un manque d'attention de la part de l'individu, comme une dénutrition. Un manque d'hygiène personnel peut indiquer que l'individu souffre de difficultés sociales et d'isolement.
