Climacs est un éditeur de texte de la famille Emacs écrit en Common Lisp et distribué sous la licence GNU LGPL. C'est une application CLIM et l'interface utilisateur profite donc pleinement de l'implémentation libre McCLIM. Les améliorations de la brique logicielle McCLIM sont donc réutilisables.
Motivations
Climacs hérite de la puissance de GNU Emacs, mais plusieurs arguments[1] ont motivé son développement:
- Le support d'Unicode implémentés avec des librairies en Common Lisp.
- Une interface graphique moderne avec la puissance du toolkit McCLIM.
- L'utilisation de Common Lisp, un langage standardisé à la différence d'Emacs Lisp. La communauté Common Lisp le considère comme plus puissant.
