La Donation de Sutri est un accord signé en 728 dans la ville de Sutri (Latium) par lequel Liutprand, le roi des Lombards céda au pape Grégoire II diverses cités de cette région comme Vetralla.
Histoire
Ce pacte fut présenté « comme un don au bienheureux apôtres Pierre et Paul », selon le Liber Pontificalis. Cet accord forma la première extension du territoire du pape au-delà des limites de la duché de Rome et a été le fondement historique des États pontificaux.
Sutri conserva son importance stratégique en tant que place forte près de la frontière du duché de Rome.
