Frances Power Cobbe

Frances Power Cobbe (née le 4 décembre 1822 à Donabate près de Dublin en Irlande et décédée le 5 avril 1904) était une militante irlandaise des droits des femmes et des animaux.

Elle fut suffragiste, membre du conseil exécutif de la London National Society for Women's Suffrage.

Elle fonda la ociety for the Protection of Animals Liable to Vivisection en 1875, la première organisation mondiale de lutte contre l'expérimentation animale puis la British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection en 1898.

Auteur, elle écrivait dans les journaux et magazines londoniens (comme dans The Lady's Own Paper d'Anna Kingsford) aussi bien pour les droits des femmes que des animaux : The Intuitive Theory of Morals (1855), Cities of the Past (1864), Criminals, Idiots, Women and Minors (1869), Darwinism in Morals (1871), ou Scientific Spirit of the Age (1888).
