Gott fähret auf mit Jauchzen (Dieu monte au milieu des cris de triomphe) (BWV 43), est une cantate religieuse de Johann Sebastian Bach composée à Leipzig en 1726.

Histoire et livret

Bach écrivit cette cantate pour la fête de l'Ascension qui tombait le 30 mai cette année-là.

Les lectures prescrites étaient les Actes des Apôtres 1: 1-11 et Marc 16: 14-20.

Le texte a plusieurs origines^[1],[2]:

• Psaume 47, versets 6 et 7, pour le premier mouvement
• Évangile selon Marc, chapitre 16, verset 19, pour le quatrième mouvement
• Johann Schop (de) pour le texte du choral final Du Lebensfürst, Herr Jesu Christ
• Auteur inconnu pour les autres mouvements (R. Wustmann et W. Neumann^[3] suggèrent que J. S. Bach puisse être cet auteur inconnu tandis que C. S. Terry^[4] avance le nom de Christian Weiss, Sr.).

Le thème du choral est Ermuntre dich, mein schwacher Geist (Zahn 5741)^[5], composé by Johann Schop en 1641.

Structure et instrumentation

La cantate est écrite pour deux hautbois, timbale (tamburi sur le manuscrit^[6]), trois trompettes, deux violons, alto, basse continue, avec quatre solistes vocaux (soprano, alto, ténor, basse) et chœur à quatre voix.

Il y a onze mouvements répartis en deux groupes (à jouer avant et après le sermon) :

1. chœur : Gott fähret auf mit Jauchzen
2. récitatif : Es will der Höchste sich ein Siegsgepräng bereiten ténor
3. aria : Ja tausend mal tausend begleiten den Wagen, ténor
4. récitatif : Und der Herr, nachdem er mit ihnen geredet hatte, soprano
5. aria : Mein Jesus hat nunmehr, soprano
6. récitatif : Es kommt der Helden Held, basse
7. aria : Er ists, der ganz allein for tromba and continuo.
8. récitatif : Der Vater hat ihm ja, alto.
9. aria : Ich sehe schon im Geist, alto
10. récitatif : Er will mir neben sich, soprano
11. choral : Du Lebensfürst, Herr Jesu Christ for choir and tutti colla parte.
