Ibrahim Oweiss

Le docteur Ibrahim Mohamed Oweiss est un grand économiste, un expert en économie internationale, un professeur d'économie à l'Université de Georgetown de Washington, un ancien diplomate égyptien en poste à New York, un chargé de nombreuses missions dans le monde.

Il compte parmi les plus grands analystes des relations entre l'Amérique et le monde arabe.

Biographie

Il est né en Egypte et a obtenu la nationalité américaine.

Il invente le concept de pétrodollar pour décrire l’influence des fluctuations des prix de pétrole de l’OPEP sur la devise américaine.

Il obtient l’équivalent de la licence en sciences économiques et politiques à l’Université d'Alexandrie en 1952, puis poursuit des études pour le doctorat à l’Université du Minnesota aux États-Unis, qu’il acquiert en 1962.

Il enseigna l’économie politique à l’Université d’Harvard, à l'Université Johns-Hopkins et à l'Université de Georgetown où il enseigne actuellement, il a exercé la fonction de consultant économique pour plusieurs pays l’Egypte, le Koweït, le Qatar, Panama, Taiwan et l’Arabie saoudite.

Il a enseigné à de nombreux politiciens et économistes renommés parmi eux l’ancien président américain Bill Clinton. Ibrahim oweiss a reçu de nombreux prix et il a publié 50 ouvrages en économie et en politique en langue anglaise.

Il inventa les termes économiques Pétrodollar et capitaux bloqués.
