Le spiti ou chamurthi est une race de petit cheval d'Inde, adaptée à l'altitude. Il porte le nom de la vallée dont il est originaire[1].

Il est robuste, travailleur et aime le climat froid et d'altitude. En basse altitude, il ne supporte pas la chaleur, l'humidité et devient très fragile[2].
