Le Big Day Out (BDO) est un festival qui a lieu chaque année en Australie et en Nouvelle-Zélande. D'ordinaire, de nombreux groupes de rock contemporain et de musique électronique s'y produisent.

Historique

Le public en face des 2 scènes principales du Big Day Out (Melbourne 2006)

Le festival naît en 1992 à Sydney, et est étendu à Melbourne, Perth et Adélaïde en 1993. En 1994, Auckland, en Nouvelle-Zélande, et la Gold Coast viennent s'ajouter à la liste. Suite à l'annonce de la fin du festival en 1997, quelques instigateurs (Vivian Less et Ken West) tentèrent d'organiser un festival dédié aux musiques électroniques, mais le festival fut annulé. Finalement, le Big Day Out réapparait en 1999.
