Tamoanchan dans la mythologie aztèque, est un paradis terrestre selon le Codex Telleriano-Remensis, la résidence principale de Xochiquetzal, la déesse de la beauté et l'amour. Dans le lieu existait un arbre appelé Xochitlicacan, ce paradis était protégé par des génies appelés Amoxoaque (Tlaltetecui, Xochicahua) et Tamoanchan a été construits à peu de distance Teotihuacan. Les dieux Tonacatecuhtli et Tonacacihuatl ont expulsé à divers divinités mineures qui abîmaient au paradis pour couper des fleurs et branches, ils avariaient le jardin, ces divinités mineures ont échappé à la terre et à l'enfer[1].
