The Slender Thread

The Slender Thread (ou Trente minutes de sursis) est un film de Sydney Pollack sorti en 1965, avec pour acteurs principaux Anne Bancroft et Sidney Poitier. Il s'agit du premier long métrage réalisé au cinéma par Sydney Pollack.

Sidney Poitier y incarne Alan, un étudiant de Seattle bénévole dans un centre d'appels d'urgence. Il reçoit un appel d'une femme nommée Inga (interprétée par Anne Bancroft), qui lui dit qu'elle vient juste de prendre une dose létale de comprimés et qu'elle veut parler à quelqu'un avant de mourir. L'intrigue met en scène les efforts d'Alan, d'un psychiatre (Telly Savalas) et d'un inspecteur (Ed Asner) pour localiser cette femme et son mari (Steven Hill).

Ce film, tourné en partie à Seattle, s'inspire d'une histoire vraie relatée par Shana Alexander dans un article de Life Magazine.
