Loi 63
La loi 63 est une loi linguistique de la province de Québec écrite par Jean-Guy Cardinal en 1969 sous le mandat de Jean-Jacques Bertrand. Elle a pour but de consacrer le libre-choix dans l'enseignement en maintenant le choix des citoyens pour la langue d'instruction.
Le contenu de la loi 63 est repris de l'ancien projet de loi 85. Cette loi sera le début de la saga juridique en matière de légifération gouvernementale sur le français à l'école. Une partie de la population française est insatisfaite, ce qui conduit Robert Bourassa à adopter la loi 22, une loi à vocation plus large.
Les controverses entourant la matière mèneront finalement René Lévesque à promulguer la loi 101, qui oblige les immigrants à apprendre le français à l'école et règlemente l'affichage linguistique.
