Walter Gay (22 janvier 1856 - 15 juillet, 1937) était un peintre américain né à Hingham (Massachusetts). Il épousa Matilda E. Travers, la fille d'un riche investisseur de New York et cofondateur de la Saratoga Race Course, William R. Travers. Le couple s'installa à Paris où Walter Gay devint l'élève de Leon Bonnat. Il exposa au Salon de Paris en 1885.
