Black Stone Cherry est un groupe de Metal Alternatif formé le 4 juin 2001 à Edmonton, Kentucky, États-Unis. Ils ont signé avec Roadrunner Records.

Le groupe est composé de Chris Robertson (chant, guitare), Ben Wells (guitare, chœurs), John Lawhon (bass guitar, background vocals), et John Fred Young (batterie, chœurs), fils du guitariste rythmique Richard Young (du groupe The Kentucky Headhunters). Black Stone Cherry a publié trois albums studio et trois EP.

Biographie

Le groupe Black Stone Cherry est originaire de Edmonton dans le Kentucky. Chris Robertson et John Fred Young, le fils de Richard Young, guitariste rythmique des 'Kentucky Headhunters', commencèrent à jouer ensemble au tous début de leur adolescence puis Jon et Ben suivirent rapidement. Black Stone Cherry se forma officiellement le 4 juin 2001. Ils commencèrent alors a répéter dans le studio (depuis 1968) des 'The Kentucky Headhunters' et enregistrèrent quelques titres. Ils retournèrent alors a Edmonton pour un concert dans la salle de gym de leur lycée, attendu par 1500 personnes. Pour fêter la sortie de leur premier EP, le principal de leur lycée les invita pour un grand concert organisé par l'école. Cependant, alors que le groupe entrait en ville, il découvrirent avec stupeur que les rues étaient couvertes de signe de bienvenue.

En juillet 2007, ils sortirent leur second EP

Leurs premier album fut enregistré en live le 31 October 2007, pendant une série de concert a l'Astoria de Londres. Ils se joignirent alors a Def Leppard et Whitesnake pour une série de concert durant l'été 2008 en Europe.

Le 19 août 2008, Black Stone Cherry sortit son deuxième album, intitulé 'Folklore and Superstition'. 4 singles furent tirés de cet album : "Blind Man", "Please Come In", "Things My Father Said" et "Soul Creek".

En mai 2009, ils participèrent au Nickelback's Dark Horse tour.
