Bob Hope (29 mai 1903 à Londres - 27 juillet 2003) était un acteur et humoriste américain d'origine britannique.

Il anima notamment les cérémonies de remise des Oscars du cinéma à vingt reprises.

Humoriste de talent, il fut envoyé en mission pour accompagner les soldats américains lors des difficiles moments de la guerre du Vietnam.

Il joua au golf avec 11 présidents américains, un privilège honorifique sans égal dans le monde du spectacle. À son décès, il reçut de nombreux et chaleureux éloges aux États-Unis.

Hommages

L'aéroport Bob Hope de Burbank en Californie rend hommage à l'acteur.

Un navire du Military Sealift Command porte son nom, le USNS Bob Hope (T-AKR-300). Lancé en mars 1997 et entré en service en novembre 1998, il s'agit de la tête de série de la classe Bob Hope^[1].

Le Bob Hope Humanitarian Award a été créé pour récompenser un artiste ou un artisan de la télévision américaine ayant démontré son engagement par son action humanitaire. Il est remis, lorsqu'accordé, à l'occasion de la remise des prix Emmy.
