Le borough (terme que l'on peut traduire approximativement par en français par district ou arrondissement), est dans de nombreux pays anglo-saxons, et pour la plupart des cas, la circonscription administrative d'une grande ville, comparable à l'arrondissement municipal en France, en Belgique et au Canada.

En général, un borough est :

Londres

Londres est constitué, outre de la "cité de Londres", de 32 boroughs.

États-Unis

New York

New York est composée de cinq districts (boroughs) : Manhattan, Brooklyn, le Queens, le Bronx et Staten Island. Ceux-ci correspondent également à des comtés de l'État de New York qui sont respectivement : New York County, Kings County, Queens County, Bronx County et Richmond County.

Alaska

L'Alaska est l'un des seuls États américains (avec la Louisiane) a ne pas être territorialement organisé en Comté. L'état comporte 16 boroughs.
