Break machine est le pseudonyme de Keith Rodgers, musicien new-yorkais et animateur d'une émission consacrée au rap sur la radio WHBI 105.9 en 1981 (Bon Rock Live). Sous le pseudonyme de Bon Rock, il enregistre cette année là Searching Rap. En 1982, il rencontre Jacques Morali et Henri Belolo, les producteurs (français) à succès du groupe Village People. Avec eux et le musicien Fred Zarr, il s'associe avec trois New-Yorkais spécialistes de Breakdance - Lindsay Blake, Lindell Blake et Cortez Jordan - pour sortir le disque Street dance, qui connaîtra un succès phénoménal et participera à la reconnaissance de la culture hip hop dont il n'est pourtant pas un produit typique. Le videoclip Street Dance popularisera en Europe le style Break Dance fin 1983. Aujourd'hui, Keith Rodgers est toujours musicien, sous le pseudonyme de SugaBear. Il se fait parfois aussi appeler Stan Rodgers.
Pour le grand public, le nom Break Machine est souvent associé aux trois danseurs qui ont fait le tour du monde pour danser sur les plateaux de télévision et populariser la Break Dance.
