Canacé, fille d'Éole et d'Énarété, aimée par Poséidon, enfanta de lui Hopléos, Nirée, Épopée, Aloéos et Triops. Mais Macarée, son frère, s'unit d'un amour incestueux avec elle, et ils eurent un enfant. Macarée se suicida le jour où cet amour fut dévoilé, tandis que Canacé se tua, contrainte par leur père, qui jeta leur enfant aux chiens.
