Chartwell, situé à environs de 3 km au sud de Westerham, dans le Kent en Angleterre, fut la résidence de Sir Winston Churchill.
Churchill et son épouse Clementine, acquirent cette demeure quelques jours après la naissance de leur cinquième et dernier enfant Mary le 15 septembre 1922. Elle resta la résidence privée de l'homme d'État britannique jusqu'à son décès en janvier 1965.
Cependant, durant la Seconde guerre mondiale, Churchill et sa famille passèrent le plus clair de leurs temps à Chequers dans le Buckinghamshire, la maison de campagne destinée au Premier ministre du Royaume-Uni. En effet, la position géographique de Chartwell proche de l'Europe occupée, la rendait plus vulnérable aux attaques allemandes.
