Chlorine

En chimie organique un chlorine est un grand anneau aromatique hétérocyclique consistant, au noyau, de 3 pyrroles et d'un pyrrole réduit couplé à travers 4 liens méthine. À l'inverse d'un porphyrine, un chlorine est donc largement aromatique mais l'entière circonférence de l'anneau n'est pas aromatique.

Les chlorines contenant du magnésium sont appelés chlorophylles, et sont le pigment central photosensible dans les chloroplastes. Un composé apparenté, avec 2 pyrroles réduits, est appelé un bactériochlorine.

Structure chimique d'une chlorine

À cause de leur photosensibilité, les chlorines sont utilisés dans les agents photosensibilisants dans les thérapies relativement expérimentales de laser anti-cancer.
