Abel Brillanceau est un géologue français de l'École supérieure d'ingénieurs de Poitiers (ESIP), mort du paludisme en 1989 au Cameroun.
Son collègue et ami Michel Brunet lui a rendu hommage en surnommant « Abel » le premier fossile d'Australopithecus bahrelghazali découvert au Tchad par son équipe en 1995[1],[2].
Son nom a été donné à un amphithéâtre de l'ESIP[3] et à une rue de Poitiers[4].
