Cavité articulaire entre la tête fémorale et l'iliaque
L'acetabulum (anciennement cavité cotyloïde ou cotyle) est la surface articulaire de l'os iliaque. Sa forme arrondie permet une grande amplitude de mouvement à l'os fémur. C'est donc une articulation de la hanche.
L'acetabulum est à la jonction de 3 pièces principales que sont l'ischium (postérieur), l'ilium (supérieur) et le pubis(antérieur).
