Bhagwan Râo reçoit Datia et Baroni de son père et établit son propre état.

La principauté devient un protectorat britannique en 1804.

La principauté a subsisté jusqu'en 1950 mais a ensuite été intégrée aux États du Vindhya-Pradesh puis du Madhya Pradesh.
