Derris est le nom d'un genre de plantes légumineuses originaire d'Asie du Sud-Est et des îles du Pacifique telle que la Nouvelle-Guinée.
L'espèce Derris elliptica, dont on extrait la roténone, appartenait à ce genre mais a été renommé récemment en Paraderris elliptica par Frits Adema[1].
