Les Dinkas sont un peuple dans le Sud du Soudan, qui vivent dans la région de la crise de Bahr al-Ghazal. Dinka veut dire « hommes ».

Histoire

Les religions des Dinka ont abouti à un conflit massif avec le gouvernement de Khartoum. Ainsi, les Dinka, tout comme les Nuer, refusent l'islamisation de la vie quotidienne voulue par le pouvoir central. Pendant la Guerre civile au Sud-est du Soudan, des milliers de Dinka ont été tués. D'autres ont fui et se sont retrouvés par milliers dans des camps de réfugiés au Soudan, ou dans les pays voisins comme le Kenya ou l'Ethiopie.

Population

On en compte environ deux millions, soit environ 5 pour 100 de la population du Soudan.

Langue

Leur langue, le Nuer-Dinka, est une langue nilotique.
