Le terme de Doctor of Laws désigne un diplôme universitaire de troisième cycle dans les pays anglophones ou anglo-saxons. Ce terme est souvent abrégé en LL.D. (abréviation venant de l'expression latine Legum Doctor)

Au Royaume-Uni, en Australie et en Nouvelle-Zélande, le LL.D. est un doctorat décerné après avoir produit de nombreuses publications apportant une importante et originale contribution à la science ou à l'étude du droit. Cependant, certaines universités, telles que l'université d'Oxford, décernent des Doctor of Civil Law à la place. Au Canada, le LL.D et le Doctor of Civil Law sont décernés à la place du Ph.D. en droit. Le LL.D. peut également être décerné en tant que diplôme honorifique à des personnalités ayant beaucoup contribué pour la société.

Aux États-Unis, le LL.D. est presque toujours un diplôme honorifique. Le diplôme de Doctor of Juridical Science (J.S.D. or S.J.D. or D.J.S.) est décerné pour un travail de recherche et la rédaction d'une thèse. Ce titre est considéré comme équivalent à un Ph.D. en droit.
